Plasti-Fab, Inc. is a world-class composite products manufacturer that was in need of a revamp of their product brochures and quarterly newsletter.

Outlier happily obliged and has redesigned and created most of Plasti-Fab's marketing collateral, for print and on the web.

The Newsletter
The Plasti-Fab newsletter is delivered electronically every quarter. These newsletters have a wide selection of content, and the trick with these projects was to find the balance between design, copy, and technical information.


We wanted the newsletter to be visually appealing, but more importantly, the information needed to be delivered clearly to Plasti-Fab's target audience.

Our Relationship
ControlTek and Outlier Solutions work closely together on all of ControlTek's branding and marketing collateral, so creating a branding guide just made sense. The branding guide is a tool that businesses use to create strict guidelines for their internal and external communications.

ControlTek needed an easy to use and easy to understand guide that would keep all of their marketing and communication materials consistent. This guide was to be used not only by Outlier, but also by ControlTek's internal employees.


About the Branding Guide
ControlTek's branding guide features style guidelines for brochures, letterhead, business cards, name tags, email salutations, document footers, as well as calling out company colors and fonts. We also provided ControlTek with different files types of their marketing collateral to ensure that they were accessible to the employees of ControlTek.

web site and online marketing strategy

As a full service agency, Outlier works as an entire marketing department for our clients, essentially filling the shoes as the marketing director, public relations manager, web site developer, graphic designer, and online marketing guru. While we always enjoy taking on individual projects, our ideal situation is having the marketing autonomy entrusted to us by New Kinetix.

Under a tight timeline and limited existing marketing materials, Outlier Solutions helped NewKinetix deliver their new iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch remote control accessory to a large target market. In a matter of months, the Rē went from being a virtually unknown product, to having a full website, PR campaign, press kit, and online and email marketing strategy -- all in time for the world-wide release at CES, the largest consumer electronics convention of the year.

We now work on a monthly retainer with New Kinetix as their ongoing marketing team, providing them access to our full slate of marketing tools whenever they need them, as well as monthly online promotional and creative tasks.

promoting new products with gripping animation

RNA & Outlier
RNA Networks' Memory Virtualization Platform (MVP) makes memory a shared, network resource. Their Memory Virtualization Platform is a cutting edge idea that is just beginning to get mainstream adoption. RNA Networks requested Outlier's help to create a rotating flash panel for RNA Networks homepage that would feature their products as well as to help the viewer understand the concept of "Memory Virtualization".

The Design
Outlier provided multiple design concepts with a wide range of looks, but eventually created the blue, orange, and grey design you see here. This design was created to be calming and visually stimulating at the same time. We did this by using a few bold accent colors on top of a grey mat background and layering translucent textures.

The use of white space to create balance and the right amount of tension was also an important element of these designs. The slides were displayed in a rotating flash format with the option of jumping between slides using the circles in the lower right hand corner.

Labnet International has a diverse catalog of products ranging from small disposable plasticware, to larger bioresearch equipment. They needed an intuitive website that Labnet's international distributors and worldwide customer base could easily reference, and browse quickly.

The Design
Outlier created a site that included an interactive map, allowing users to select and view only products in their region, as well as a dynamic backend to allow for simple content management without having update any databases or HTML.

Event Network is the premier Cultural Attraction retail operator in North America, based out of San Diego California. They wanted to rebrand their web presence and had an idea for a video that told the story of its company culture and highlight a few of their unique storefronts. The concept of the video was to capture the enthusiasm and pride Event Network's team has for their careers from a few flagship stores.

Outlier sent its founders Ben and Jed to Chicago for a one day whirl wind video shoot. Ben and Jed had a blast and even got to enjoy the Shedd Aquarium in absolute quiet before the doors opened and the summer crowds flooded in. The Event Network story is amazing; the new video and website has been a true success. This video was such a hit that is was shown at their annual company "Huddle" at DisneyLand.

Outlier Solutions is a science fan, and that's why Alpha-Tec Systems selected us to produce a training video about their reagents. Our knowledge and enthusiasm for the laboratory world was apparent, and they were surprised by how much we understood their industry. As one would expect when it comes to good laboratory practice the video needed to be instructional, direct, and encompass step-by-step procedures.

Alpha-Tec products are used for clinical laboratory procedures. Their product NAC-PAC EA3 is used to detect tuberculous, and to achieve the best diagnostics, it is key that the manufacturers protocol is strictly adhered to.

The footage was captured at their corporate headquarters in a one day shoot was packaged and shipped with the product.

In addition to being extremely capable, the people at Outlier were unfailingly easy to work with. The cost and timeline Outlier provided at the outset of the project never waivered, they were always willing to incorporate our changes, and their dedication to creating an excellent product was apparent throughout.

The leadership at adidas wanted to capture this training and strategy session to share with the wider adidas retail team. Outlier was given a week to produce 3 training videos, motion graphic treatments, a comedic spoof video to get everyone excited for some new efficiencies, and a highlight rewind of the week for the last day.

Building micro-sites is one of the most effective and current ways to integrate new products, highlight old ones, or in this case, showcase enhancements to an existing product.

In today's SEO driven marketing world, micro-sites allow for day-to-day tracking of site visits, key search terms, and conversion rates independently of the parent site. A micro-site was a perfect fit for Plasti-Fab's new Guardian Line of Industrial Shelters.

For Industrial Shelters, we had to flex some of our design muscles by incorporating customizing options for 12 different shelter sizes, and multiple accessory add-on options as part of the online buying process. The entire purchase can be completed online quickly in a user-friendly, simple and secure checkout procedure.
